The economic strategies ive found very interesting and adds to the depth of the gameplay for me. Ive been trying to master the 10% interest on stars ability but its difficult. You have to nueter your defenses to try to get the most interest and you end up walking a fine line where you could be great one night and dead the next. Good design and full of fun. A wonderful little game! Relatively lightweight install, fun characters, lighthearted take on tower defense. I like the large number of unlockable characters (each of whom has their own strengths and some of whom SIGNIFICANTLY change gameplay) and the large collection of upgrade options that let you experiment with a huge range of play strategies. I've put two or three hours into it and consider it WELL worth the $15 price tag; I'm having a lot of fun and I'm only three characters in.A couple notes:--There IS (some) saving in the game- you can pause an ongoing run, close the game, and return to it later. What you can't do is return to an older run (you can't have more than one active run at a time, and starting a new game removes an existing save.) Progress in a run is dynamic, by which I mean the only save point is the last one. Each save overwrites the previous one.--If playing the game on keyboard\/mouse, the controls take a little getting used to (although that might just be my unfamiliarity with top-down FPS games).--Many of the cahracters unlock only after you pass certain milestones in a single run, but not all of them! Some (to my relief!) unlock after cumulaive, multi-run milestones.The only thing I miss is an offline "High Scores" list; I'd love to be able to compare my runs to each other over time, not just to the whole community's scores.All told, I'm happy with this game and I'm looking forward to seeing more titles by the developer. If you're uncertain whether this game is for you, I would definitely recommend looking up streaming videos; I know the Loading Ready Runcrew did a streamed ~six hour playthrough on opening night (which is what prompted me to buy the game) and there are probably others by now.Happy gaming!. As a fan of both Tower Defense and Twin Stick Shooters, I had high hopes for this game. Unfortunately after less that a hour I feel like I have seen all the game has to offer and have zero motivation to play further.My main gripes:- resource management- Having to constantly repurchase ammo leaves little room to explore the upgrades, but to that point...- limited upgrades - You can upgrade a tower to lvl 3 and a couch to lvl 3, If you are able to save enough diamonds to get one these to lvl 3, hope they don't get destroyed because it will take at least 5 more waves to recover the loss. You unlock characters but from what I have seen the only difference is the starting weapons, which can be unlocked in game by any of the characters. - one static map - You have one map that is a big square. No routing with turrets or wave control. Monsters come from one of four corners and come straight for you.- enemy variety - There are only a handful of enemies, minor cosmetic differences and normal stat boost, no interesting moves or special abilities to make comat interesting.- time dump\/difficulty - takes about a hour to get to a point where the game becomes remotely challenging, and when it comes it comes hard and wipes you out. - no co-op - This may have made combat a little more interesting, but even then I dunno.Technically the game play fine. Controls are responsive. Sadly the game feels like a mediocre twin stick and a mediocre TD had a mediocre hybrid baby game. If this was a free demo I would be super stoked to play a full feature rich version with these core mechanics. There are better Twin Sticks (Assault Android Cactus, Tesla vs Lovecraft) and TD platformers (Pixeljunk Monsters 2, Hypercharge: Unboxed) to spend your money on.. Very enjoyable tower defense with a cute theme. Handles nicely, I saw the demo at PAX east - it has only gotten better since.. Don't write reviews but figured I'd put my two cents in on this game... Due to family and life I dont have the time I used to in regards to heavy gaming.. This game fits the casual gamer perfectly as it is easy to play and deep enough for the hardcore gamers.. reminds me of the old school games like galaga and centipede with a Monsters Inc feel to it. If other MMO or FPS games irritate you this game is a great substitute to just calm down and game out.. Its a good game but the are a bad thing....IT DOES NOT SAVE....i've made it to the 20 level and i wanted to exit the game because i got bored...i lost all of my progress and now i have to start again...this is the only bad thing about this game for me. I recommend this game if your into building a fort, upgrading your fort, and defeating waves of monsters. Controller support is a little more difficult to aim with. Despite advertising itself as twin-stick shooter and base-builder hybrid, I want to stress that this is a tower defence game more than anything else.While you can certainly play it as a twin-stick, it's not really a long-term strategy that will allow you to reach the higher levels of the game. To do that, you'll need to focus on building up your base.This isn't a huge black mark against the game, however, as the tower defence is fairly endearing and did keep me coming back over multiple play sessions. It does suffer from some of the age-old tower defence tropes, however, such as taking a long time to build momentum and the earlier stages not being particularly exciting once you've cleared them a few times.The game is pitched firmly on the casual side of the market and overall succeeds in delivering an enjoyable experience, albeit in controlled bursts. I can't see many people having the stamina to jump back in right after failing on a later wave, as there are no "milestone" levels and when you die, you start over from the start.Ultimately, don't be fooled into thinking this is a shooty game for kids, it's not. However, the game is fairly accessible as a base-building title and definitely offers several hours of fun. Provided you are looking for a casual tower defence experience, Sleep Tight has my recommendation.
